Celebrating Survivors!

April, 2001, I was seeing a doctor that wouldn't give me a mammogram...how stupid, I'm over 40 and I felt a lump. So I quickly got another doctor, and got a mammogram and sure enough, I had breast cancer in my left breast. I was stunned to say the least.

June, 2001, I had a lumpectomy and in July I started radiation therapy. The therapy didn't agree with me to say the least, I got a second degree burn from it and the burn got infected. Completely took the skin off of my breast.

It's been a year now since that ordeal and I thank God everyday for my life. But I caught my cancer early because I did self-exam, changed doctor when he wouldn't listen to me and got a mammogram as soon as possible.

I am going to be alright.
